Paul's Thorn in the Flesh

Robert Shonk Jr. – In 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 Paul speaks of a thorn in the flesh. There are two groups who use the thorn to prove either God doesn’t heal or doesn’t always heal. In verses 9and 10 of the same chapter, Paul speaks of infirmities. Because of that many believe that Paul must have been sick.

The word infirmities in the Bible do not always mean sickness. One such case, is in Romans 6:19 where Paul tells the people that he speaks this way because of the infirmities of their flesh. Were these people sick? The answer is no.

Paul’s Suffering & Health

If you follow Paul’s ministries in the book of Acts chapter 11 and 2 Corinthians chapter 11 and 12 Paul talks of all he suffered for Christ. Not one time did he say he was sick.

Specifically, in 2 Corinthians 12: 1-7 Paul refers to his thorn in the flesh as a result of having received great revelations. Seeing the third heaven must have cost him the buffeting of the devil. How many of you that are sick today because of seeing the third heaven and receiving great revelation from God?

If the answer is no, don’t hide behind Paul’s thorn in the flesh. Receive God’s healing today.
