A New Creature

“ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Every person who believes in his heart the Lord Jesus and follows by baptism is taught to have become a new creature. “Old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.” Then, if rightly understood, this person is now well equipped to live the victorious Christian life.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The majority of Christians don’t know what takes place at baptism nor can they accurately explain the change that has occurred, if any. The reason is because of the ignorance of a vital principle established by the apostle Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:23. There, it states that every individual is made up of three distinct components: body, soul, and spirit.

Since “soul and spirit” is also taught by religion to be the same, then one is at a loss to know how to live this new life that they embraced. Therefore, is felt across the board, a life of defeat through church manual or different work programs— legalism all over again.

Let’s analyze this concept of body, soul, spirit knowledge, which is so essential to a conquering life in Christ Jesus. Consider the body, when one accept Christ, it is obvious that the body doesn’t change. If one was over weight before receiving Christ, one is still over weight after that. Though the body is purchased by the blood of Jesus, but it is not redeemed yet 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. Therefore, the body is not affected through receiving Christ.

How about the soul? Various dictionaries and biblical concordances use the term “soul and spirit” interchangeably or to mean the same thing when the bible differentiates them widely. The soul biblically is the intellect, the mind, or the heart of man, which enables him to touch, feel, reason, hate, even love, etc.

This part didn’t experience any change at the rebirth. For example, if you were not smart when you’ve received Christ, you’re still not smart after. If you didn’t know math before you receive Christ, you still don’t know math after.

Which means that though the mind or the intellect can be changed, but it didn’t change when one accept Christ. That’s why in Romans 12:2, we are admonished to renew our mind. This is the sole job of a Christian: to renew his or her mind.

The only thing that’s left now is the spirit. It is the only thing that is new. Before one accepts Christ, his spirit was dead in trespasses and in sin. Ephesians 2:1-2. It was enmity against God. It was in other word that sin nature which is called the old man. Ephesians 2:23.

Upon receiving Christ, man instantly receives a new spirit, replacing the old. This spirit is complete. Since you cannot see that spirit, God’s Word is the only thing that tells you what that spirit is, the same way a mirror gives you a reflection of yourself.

This spirit is created in righteousness. Ephesians 4:24; 2Corinthians 5:21. As Jesus is, so is our spirit 1John 4:17. Our spirit is one with the Spirit of God. 1Corinthians 6:17. The Holy Ghost seals our spirit. Ephesians 1:13. Our spirit knows all things. 1John 2:20. Our spirit cannot sin. 1John 3:9 It is the same spirit that one will have for eternity. It never changes. It has all healing one ever needs.

It has the solution to every problem that one faces. The only way one would ever know that this spirit exists is to accept it by faith, and through the acknowledgment of the good thing that is in you. Philemon 6.

In John 4: 24 Jesus told the Samaritan women that the time will come when they that worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth, for God is spirit. At the new birth you receive that spirit. You are well pleasing to God. Now, you must cooperate with your new spirit to renew your mind.

Once the mind is renewed, the body will conform. I know this is a very hard concept to get but once you understand it you’ll know that not only the Christian life would be hard and difficult but an utter impossibility without the spirit.

I know you have not been taught that way, neither have I. But this radical truth has transformed my life tremendously, it will transform yours too. Know today that in your spirit, you are a new creature. You’re holy, righteous, perfect, and just. You have all the attribute of God. Ephesians 4:6

Renew your mind to that fact and live like Christ and fulfill His words in John 14:12.

Christian Given Land, Life, Possession By God

Just like Israel of old, we become complacent after the departure of the disciples and allow every curse of the old covenant to be part of the new covenant now. To the point where a spirit-filled Christian today accepts sickness, poverty and oppression to be a part of the abundant life that Jesus came to give.

Believe In Jesus Name

Within the Christian faith itself, the controversy over His name is alarming. Numerous books and articles are written about the pagan roots of His name causing many to question His true Hebrew name. This controversy perhaps is one of the cause of much widespread strife in His body. In fact, whole denominations are formed upon that.
