Ambassador for Christ

“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,” 2Corinthians 5:20

An ambassador is a messenger or one that represents his government in a foreign land. In this case, a Christian is a representative of Christ’s government. But where is Christ’s government? In his dialogue with Pilate during His earthly trial, Jesus said, that His Kingdom or government is not of this world. John 18:36 In another instance, in Luke 17:21 He stated that the kingdom of God is within us.

Since, Satan smeared God’s image on earth, Christ’s mission here was twofold: to restore that image as well as to bring salvation to mankind. For He was according to Hebrew 1:3 “The express image of his person…” and in 1 John 2:2 “And he is the propitiation for our sins:”

Christ earthly ministry was to show God’s mercy and grace as opposed to the rigid mosaic system, which was not a true representation of God. “He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil.” Acts 10:38 In other words, His life was a repertoire of acts of forgiveness, mercy, and grace to the point that in John 21:25 it says “And there are also many other things which Jesus did the which, if there should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.”

As to the office of ambassador of Christ, the apostle Paul describes what it entails
in 2 Corinthians5:18. There he says “and all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.” Yes, Christ has reconciled us to God through his life, death, and resurrection.

To promote that reconciliation or the Gospel of the Good News of the Grace of God to all mankind is our ministry. (Titus 2:11) That atonement for sin is made, the law in all its forms is done away with. All man has to do is accept that grace by receiving Jesus the Savior of the world.

As ambassadors, we are to show the world how through Christ all our acts of sin, past, present, and future are forgiven. No longer do we need to bare our own guilt. The greatest and the only sin worthy of damnation is not accepting Jesus, God’s greatest gift of salvation.

To the contrary, today’s ambassadors of Christ have replaced this wonderful Gospel with a “ hell, fire, and brimstone” one or a mixture of law and grace. Romans 11:6. By scaring people into accepting Jesus through these methods, they have at the same time wiped out the love of God in the heart of the believers.

The believers, in turn, serve God out of duty instead of love. Though the churches may be filled with believers, the vibrant life depicted in the Word is non-existent in their lives. In fact, this is the only time in history where even politicians are referred to as Christians.

It is time that the true ambassadors of Jesus stand and proclaim the truth about our Savior. In Isaiah 58 there is a call for repairers of the breach and restorers of old paths. Christ is the breach; the old path is the Gospel that Christ hath reconciled us to God.

Although “hell, fire, and brimstone” is truth but it’s not the Gospel. The Gospel alone has power to change man’s degenerate heart. Any other way will result in a form of godliness as is experienced in this generation. 2Timothy 3:5

Ambassadors, don’t forget “As ye have received Christ, so walk ye in Him” Colossians 2:6 It was grace through faith- the free gift of God- that brought salvation to us. Ephesians 2:8-9. Let us present the same to the world and watch the abundant harvest it will bring. `

True education is a grand science; for it is founded on the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom. It's that element of "Understanding" God's ways.
