Christian Given Land, Life, Possession By God

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, how long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your father has given you? Joshua 18:3

Joshua here is rebuking Israel for not taking possession over the land. In the two previous verses it states however that some tribes did take possession but there still remain seven tribes who were still hesitant of God’s promise. Although eventually they did occupy a great portion of the land, they never acquire it all. They just acquired enough and decided to live peaceably with the enemy, which was contrary to God’s Word. Judges 1-3 bares that record

Is there a parallel with the New Testament believers? In John 10:10 Jesus states “I came that you might have life and might have it more abundantly.”Life in Jesus’ day was healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out devils, feeding the hungry, etc. Life in Jesus was not a conquest in land and houses and things, it is rather a complete and fulfilled life free of sickness, poverty, oppression etc. Of which those other things (houses, land) are but by products. In Ephesians 1:3-6 we are highly favored of God and made recipients of all spiritual blessing in heavenly places

In Galatians Christ removed every curse and the things, which were against us. In 1 Peter 2:24 we all are healed of all of our sicknesses. In Mark 16:18 we’re given power to heal others. In Luke 9:1 we’re given authority over the devil. In Romans 8:37 we are more than conquerors. After the ascension of Christ, the disciples went about everywhere fulfilling these and in one generation the gospel reached the world.

Just like Israel of old, we become complacent after the departure of the disciples and allow every curse of the old covenant to be part of the new covenant now. To the point where a spirit-filled Christian today accepts sickness, poverty and oppression to be a part of the abundant life that Jesus came to give.

Will the true Christian stand and restore the old land mark of our spiritual heritage which is in Romans 14:17 “ The Kingdom of God is love, peace, righteousness, and joy in the Holy Ghost
