“…But I come to thee in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou has defied.” 1 Samuel 17: 45
We are all familiar with the story of David and Goliath. How a mere youth took on a giant and wasted him with only one little smooth stone and a slingshot. This story and many similar ones in the Bible are placed in the category of myth even among Bible scholars. Why? They don’t understand, also because they consider the weight of the stone, the size of the giant and where the stone hit him; and the fact that he fell forward instead of backward (1Samuel 17:49)
Further, they argue that King Saul would be irresponsible to place the fate of his entire kingdom upon such an unskilled youth. To a carnal mind, this sound very logical. However, the truth to the matter is Israel did not place much value upon the covenant they had with God for the fact they insulted Him in asking for a king in 1 Samuel 8:6-7.
The fact also that they have a king now, they rely on their own strength instead of God. They forgot that in Psalms 89:34 once God establishes a covenant with you, this covenant is bidding regardless of your performance because God does not alter His Word.
In defying the armies of Israel, Goliath there by defies God. David on the other hand, was the only one in Israel at that time who understood this vital principle. In spite of all the criticisms he received, he knew that anyone in Israel could have stood against the giant and prevailed.
His statement in 1 Samuel 17:26 “For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the Living God?” bares that fact. David knew that he and Israel were of the circumcision, and Goliath was not. And no one seemed to have caught on. Instead, the whole army including the king was afraid to attack.
Because David wasn’t afraid, he prevailed. It wasn’t the stone or the strength of David in launching the slingshot that killed Goliath. It was the power of God because the battle was the Lord. Now, all this was under the old covenant. Hebrew 7 says the old is disannulled and replaced by a much better one with greater promises.
Paul in Galatians refers to the old as a schoolmaster until Christ. Christ came and His blood sealed and established this new and better covenant. Under this covenant, sin is not imputed to us, (Romans 5:13) (2Corinthians 5:19-23) We are made partakers of all spiritual blessings, (Ephesians1:3-5) which means no more sickness now, no more poverty now, no more oppression now etc.
Not in the future thousand-year millennium only. Yes, now! As a matter of fact, we are a thousand times more powerful than David and all the old covenant patriarchs and prophets. For Christ says John was the greatest of all the old covenant prophets but the weakest born again child of the new covenant is greater than John the Baptist. (Matthew 11:11-13)
Are you living up to all your new covenant promises? If not accept Jesus today with your heart and begin to enjoy this abundant life.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5As to the nature of that suffering, the bible is very clear. 2 Timothy 3:12 states that “All that will live Godly shall suffer persecution.” Indeed, persecution of any sort by the opponents of the Gospel is the suffering or the cross that Christ says a disciple of His must take on.

In 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 Paul speaks of a thorn in the flesh. There are two groups who use the thorn to prove either God doesn’t heal or doesn’t always heal. In verses 9and 10 of the same chapter, Paul speaks of infirmities. Because of that many believe that Paul must have been sick.

Who are Gerald and Carole Lubin and what is their calling? Well, they say, “God is not asking us to live for him. He instead is asking us to let Him live through us. Also the Christian life is not a change life but an exchange life. In this exchange experience, we quickly learn that if our life is not supernatural it is superficial.”
